Have been invited to host a wedding dinner next week at a hotel, off the CBD area near Chinatown. And, definitely, one of the highlights at the wedding is: the wedding toast. As a guest, if you are approached by the emcee to say a few words for the wedding couple, what would you say? For a start, I think, it would be an honour to say a few words. But if you are stuck for words at that impromptu moment, here is a quick tip: 1) Thank the wedding couple for inviting you to be at the wedding event to share the joy (afterall those who are invited really means a lot to the wedding couple); 2) Share two or three things about your experiences with the bride/ groom or both; eg how you and the groom were best of buddies back in college and how he had tried all possible & creative ways to win the girl's heart, now his wife 3) End the toast with some words of advice or words of wisdom suitable for the married couple eg This is my personal favourite, I would go as: "A journey of a thousand mile begins with a single step; (and then add something of my own) and let this step be the start of your wonderful marriage journey together" Hope this quick tip helps. And I am so looking forward to the wedding event; the food, the suit I'm going to wear and want to hear interesting wedding toasts! |
